NEW YORK (AP) – A fossil from Ethiopia is letting scientists look millions of years into our evolutionary history – and they see a face peering back.

The find, from 3.8 million years ago, reveals the face for a presumed ancestor of the species famously represented by Lucy, the celebrated Ethiopian partial skeleton found in 1974.

This ancestral species is the oldest known member of Australopithecus, a grouping of creatures that preceded our own branch of the family tree, called Homo.

  1. This latest astonishing great discovery in Ethiopia presents additional strong evidence that Ethiopia is the origin of humankind in the world. Ethiopia, the origin of humankind means, the country is also the origin of ancient civilization on the globe. This and the previous discoveries, and existing ancient historical relics, monuments etc. found in Ethiopia are only minor fractions of insights about the origin of humankind and footage of ancient human civilizations in the world awaiting discoveries. With this personal remark, I would like to strongly recommend that we should strengthen our capacities for research in all scientific fields so that we will be able to research and discover what we had in our country in the past, advance and exalt our beloved Ethiopia by ourselves.

  2. I can’t tell you how proud I am about our very capable and well read countryman scientist Yahannes bin Haile-Selassie for discovering this fossil. I told you all a million times that it was The Almighty Our Creator’s Divine Work & Will that put together that pride, joy & gem of the colored & all humanity, our old country. If you try to take it apart, it will turn into an inferno nobody wants to live in as proven nearby’s. Let’s call out Professor Yohannes and heap praise upon praise on him. Congratulations sir!!!!!

  3. Dear Ittu Aba Farda,
Thank you very much for your excellent remark here. All what you have stated in your comment are absolutely right. God Bless You, indeed. I would also like to congradulate Professor Youhannes for his outstanding scientific achievement!!!

  4. Dear Countryman Wassie Haile Woldeyohannes:

Thank for noticing my praise and encouragement to our own well read and scientist Obbo Yohannes. That is one proof that we have enough experts in every modern way possible. What we should have self confidence and good governance so we practice our trades with no big brother breathing over our shoulders. Call me big dreamer but I strongly believe that we can be self sufficient. Natural resources? Tell me about it? Human resources? Say that again? Good governance where the rights of the individual are respected and protected by the law of the land and no one would be allowed to be above it? That has been what we have been wanting for a long time. The air is not as heavy with the infringement of citizens’ rights as it used to be but still ways to go to hear the Valkyrie coming out singing. Once good governance in peace start reining in there I, you and every one of us will be singing the old time defiance and self assurance spiritual by McFadden and Whitehead from younger days:

    Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
    We’re on the move!
    Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
    We’ve got the groove!
There’s been so many things that’s held us down
But now it looks like things are finally comin’ around
I know we’ve got, a long long way to go
And where we’ll end up, I don’t know
But we won’t let nothin’ hold us back
    We’re putting our selves together
    We’re polishing up our act!
If you felt we’ve been held down before
    Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!
    We’re on the move!
    Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now!

Blessings to you and your family!!!
